The Honourable Justice Richard Cavanagh was sworn-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 16 September 2019. His Honour graduated from the University of New South Wales with degrees in Arts and Law and was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 working in various aspects of the law. His Honour was called to the Bar in 1998 and took silk in 2010, and his practice was widely successful, increasing to areas including complex insurance cases, personal injury, property, construction and professional indemnity, and significant appeal work. Justice Cavanagh sits in the Common Law Division of the court.
