The Honourable Justice Stephen Rothman AM was sworn-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 3 May 2005. His Honour has degrees in Arts and Law from the University of New South Wales, was called to the Bar in 1982, and took silk in 1995. His Honour was a known leader of the industrial bar, and for a period worked with leaders of the Soviet Union through the International Labour Organisation in their attempts to establish free trade unions. His Honour is also well known for his service to, and as a leader within the Jewish community in Australia, being elected to various Jewish community boards and councils, as well as serving as President of the Great Synagogue in Sydney from 2014 until 2020.
