The Hon. Justice Michael Slattery AM AM (Mil) RAN was sworn-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 25 May 2009. His Honour studied Arts/Law at the University of Sydney and was called to the Bar in 1978, took silk in 1992 and was President of the NSW Bar Association from 2005 to 2007. His Honour joined the Royal Australian Navy Reserve in 1990 and served as Judge Advocate General of the Australian Defence Force from July 2014 to July 2021. His Honour continues a family tradition on the Court - his father, the Hon. John Slattery AO KGCSG QC served as a judge from 1970 to 1988.
