The Honourable Justice David Hammerschlag was sworn-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 30 January 2007, and currently serves as Chief Judge in Equity. His Honour graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a Bachelor of Arts in 1974 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1977. He emigrated to Australia in 1986, was called to the New South Wales Bar in 1991 and took silk in 2000. From 2009 to 2022, his Honour was the Commercial and Technology and Construction List Judge. He has also sat as the Corporations List Judge. Since March 2022, his Honour has also been a Judge of Appeal. His Honour is the author of Hammerschlag’s Commercial Court Handbook, Lexis Nexis Butterworths 2022.
