Help for victims of crime and witnesses
Information alert
If you're a victim of crime in New South Wales, you can get help with information and referrals through Victims Services in the Department of Communities and Justice.
If you've been injured due to a violent crime, you may be eligible for support under the Victims Support Scheme to help you in your recovery. This includes
- Counselling, to help you recover from the psychological and emotional impacts of a crime
- Financial assistance for immediate needs, to help pay for things you need urgently to be safe and healthy because of the violent crime
- Financial assistance for economic loss, to help pay for loss of earnings and other costs that assist you with your recovery
- A recognition payment, to acknowledge that a violent crime has been committed against you.
